Men's Water Polo

Don’t look now, but the wins are starting to pile up for the Westcliff Men’s Water Polo team.

It’s been a few days since Westcliff men’s water polo won the NAIA national championship at OUAZ, and since then, head coach Preslav Djippov has been able to take stock of the season that was — and look back at the final specifically — and he came up with two major reasons why the Warriors were so successful: Discipline, Coaching and Execution.

They said they were going to do it. Then, they did it. Westcliff men’s water polo is the university’s first NAIA national champion after beating rival OUAZ, not once (13-11), but twice (19-16) over the weekend in their rivals’ home pool. Oh, and they threw in a 28-4 drubbing of UC Merced for good measure. Gauntlet defeated. How sweet it is.
