Warriors Fight Hard against #13 UCI

What Happened? Westcliff Warriors travelled across town to face off against #13 UCI Anteaters for an evening competition. The Warriors came into the match will something to prove. That they could hang with the Big Dogs. The 1st Period started off slow meaning their were a lot of shots none finding the net for both squads. Eventually two goals were scored by UCI. The Warriors were playing smart making sure that the Anteaters lead was within striking distance. In the final minute of the period a penalty shot was awarded to the Warriors. #10 Vincenzo Inguanta took the shot and the Warriors were on the board to end the 1st period. The 2nd Period started off different the Warriors feeling a sense of energy were able to strike to tie the match in the opening minute of the period by #8 Luca Silvestri. UCI being the veteran team were able to respond with 3 goals of their own after. Not to be outdone the Warriors grabbed a pair of goals again by #8 Luca Silvestri. The Warriors headed into halftime only down 5-7 against UCI. The 3rd period same as the 2nd started off with a Warriors goals this time by #3 Djordje Mitrovic. In the Period #9 Mark Merai was able to put the warriors within 1 goal. #8 Luca Silvestri helped secure the tie score of the match at 8-8. Unfortunately for the Warriors that would be the last goal of the match for them. In the 4th Period UCI showcased why the are ranked #13 in the nation with grabbing 7 goals in the 4th period. UCI Anteaters grabbed the win 17-8. Coach Djippov had this to say about his squad, "Men's Water Polo played great but unfortunately lost it at the end. Best Performance ever. Proud of these guys today."

What's Next? Westcliff Warriors will be playing four games on 10/1 and 10/2 in the Gary Troyer Tournament starting off with matchups against La Verne and Fordham.
