Roberto Barrera earns Silver for Mexico
This past weekend our very own Warrior Roberto Barrera competed in the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation 2022 Championship hosted by Barbados.
Barrera participated in 6 games for the Mexican National Team. Mexico competed in Group B. Mexico went on to defeat Trinidad and Tobago 22-5 followed by a win against the Bahamas 23-4. Mexico lost a close group game against Puerto Rico 11-12. Mexico with a group stage record 2-1 with Barrera in goal helped his team move on to the Quarterfinals.
In the Quarterfinals, Barrera and Mexico faced off against Guatemala. Mexico took care of business with a final score 23-2 to move to the Semifinals.
In the Semifinals, Mexico went up against the No.1 team out of Group A - Cuba. This game was a lot closer with Mexico taking the win 13-9. Mexico went to the Finals of the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation 2022 Championship.
The Finals game was a rematch against Puerto Rico. Barrera and the Mexican team fought hard but was defeated with a final score 8-12. Barrera and the Mexico Water Polo team earned their Silver medal. Barrera himself particpated in 6 games recording 32 saves, 4 steals and 3 assists in goal for Mexico.
How does it feel to represent your country in water polo?

What lessons and experience from this summer and this tournament do you want to bring back to the Westcliff Water Polo team for this upcoming season?
"The lessons and experience I want to bring back to the mens team for this upcoming season are how we must prepare physical & mental for the season & a lot of tactical strategies we can use to face games." - Roberto Barrera
