Warriors grab Win in Home Opener

What Happened? Friday morning was an eventful day for Westcliff Athletics. Men's Water Polo held their first ever home match against Grossmont College. This was an exciting introduction for the Men's Water Polo team. The first period started off with a goal by #7 Callum Norman for the first home goal for the warrior in the 1st minute. The period was followed by two goals by #8 Luca Silvestri in the 5th minute. Grossmont followed suit cutting down the warriors lead to 1. Second period kicked off with another goal in the 1st minute by #8 Luca Silvestri. In the 5th minute of the period the warriors found the back of the net to extend their lead 5-4 by #3 Djordje Mitrovic. Grossmont were able to equalize to tie it up however #8 Luca Silvestri found an opportunity to end the period to bring the warriors up by 1 heading into halftime. Third period had 4 goals back to back within a minute by grossmont and #8 Luca Silvestri. Warriors ended the period with a score of  11-10. The 4th period we had it kick off with a goal by #7 Callum Norman. The final goal for the warriors was by #10 Vincenzo Inguanta in the final minute. Warriors win the match 13-11 agaisnt Grossmont College. Head Coach Preslav Djippov had this to say about his squad, "Our main goal was to win our home game we struggled earlier in this season ... so we were excited to be able to grab a win at home." The warriors ended the game with a total of 28 shots for a 45% shooting percentage.
