Concordia held its annual OC Invitational during a veritable monsoon last Saturday at Portola High School in Irvine.

Much of Westcliff's swim team was unable to attend, with head coach Jerry Olszewski reporting that most of the team was sidelined with illnesses.

Three Warriors were able to attend, however, Giuliana Galetto on the women's side, and Robin Pettersson and Simen Lovas on the men's.

Pettersson put on a show, finishing with second and first-place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly, respectively.

Pettersson finished in 22 seconds flat during the 50 Free — just over two-tenths of a second behind first-place finisher Chris Haygood of Concordia.

He smoked the 100 Butterfly for a 53.93-second first-place finish. Pettersson won the event by more than a second.

Lovas swam the 50 Free, finishing at 24.74, good for 15th of 22 swimmers.

On the women's side, Galetto finished the 100 Backstroke in 1:08.03, good for 15th out of 19 swimmers. She decided not to swim the 50 Free.

Both Lovas and Pettersson bowed out of events as well.

But who could blame them when they were wetter outside of the pool than in it.
