Warriors are Playoff Bound After Win
What Happened? Spirits are high for the Westcliff women's volleyball team as they have secured a spot in this year's Cal Pac Tournament. On Saturday, they faced off against Pacific Union in Angwin where they would try to make it a perfect 3-0 road trip.
The Warriors knew they couldn't take it easy, even against the Pioneers who are currently in last place in the Cal Pac.
They looked to take care of business and were able to keep the errors in the first set to a minimum. It was a close set up until 18-15, and then the Warriors turned it up a level to finish it 25-17.
This has become a common theme in the late stages of sets where they can find another gear and put together runs to finish their opponent.
Westcliff started the second set on fire with everyone in the team contributing and getting kills. The lead was 12-1 in a blink of an eye and then the second set was over in favor of Westcliff, 25-12.
The Pioneers put in some early resistance to start the third set but it would not last for long. Again, the Warriors were able to come up big towards the later stages of the set where they won the last seven points to win it all.
With this win, Westcliff women's volleyball team accomplished a huge milestone in getting into the Cal Pac Tournament. This program is pushing forwards and making great leaps all while playing great but keeping that hunger for more.

Coaches' Notes
Head Coach Kenny Ma
"Today was a great team win! We had an offensive and defensive game plan coming into the game and it was great to see how well the team executed it. It was great to see everyone on our travel roster see some minutes on the court. After a tough week, I am proud of the team for fighting through some mental blocks and began performing like the team we are."
The depth of our bench. "We have a lot of talented athletes who could make an impact to the game. This past weekend, we were missing two of our starters who are at home recovering from injuries. However, the team did not skip a beat and went straight to business."
The culture of the team. "We have a phenomenal team culture. Our athletes are selfless and have a great amount of respect for everyone. They are each others #1 fan.
"This final stretch of the season is the most important. We know that this is the part of season where a lot of teams will start to feel the fatigue and burnout. This is where we need to find our fire to push us to the end. We talk about being in the present without losing sight of what's on the other side of the tunnel. Something that has been motivating for them was to have everyone think of someone in their lives that they want to play for."
What's Next? Westcliff will get a couple of days of rest before they host Saint Katherine on October 28, at 7:00 pm.
