Warriors Look Ahead as Season Opener Ends with a Loss

Westcliff women's tennis kicked off their season this weekend as they drove over to Cal State Fullerton in a non-conference matchup.

Expectations are high for the Warriors this season as they earned rankings in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll coming in at #17.

But it wasn't the start that they were hoping for as the Warriors were defeated with a final score, 4-0.

Westcliff came up short in both of their top doubles matches.

Doubles One: Muench/Sorakubo 2-6

Doubles Two: Sherif/Radu lost 3-6

The singles matches were also defeated.

Singles Three: Sorakubo 2-6, 0-6

Singles Five: Burth 0-6, 1-6

Singles Six: Hurtado 0-6, 1-6

The matchup was played to clinch, so three singles matches were left unfinished.

The Warriors will continue this early stretch of the season against non-conference opponents as they warm up before battling against the other GSAC teams.

Westcliff will look to bounce back and get their first win in the books when they visit the Claremont Mudd Scripps on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 10 AM.
