Westcliff into the Cal Pac Championship

Westcliff Warriors opened up being back into the Cal Pac Championship Tournament with a tough opponent with Soka University.

Warriors controlled the pace of play in this Semifinal match taking a lot of shots on goal. Soka just like our match a week ago defended Westcliff very well the entire game.

Westcliff was finally able to break the scoreless tie with a run from Jordyn Gather to go up 1-0. Soka wasn't going to sit back they put on the pressure in the final 10 minutes. Warriors were able to keep their shutout alive their 11th on the season.

The will be in the Cal Pac Championship were they will face #25 UC Merced for a chance for the Cal Pac autobid for the NAIA National Tournament.

Coaches' Notes

"Twice we've played them now and we have tried to high press early and not been able to capitalize on the chances. Credit to Stenstrom she made an incredible triple save early.
 
It's difficult because you can't keep that press up all game and it gets stretched and becomes a contest you don't want to be in.
 
The 3 center backs and keeper were superb again being left to defend big spaces and space in behind, Jaida Wilson in particular showing why she is a division 1 player in big games.
 
Fortunately, Albe delivered us one magic pass and our standout Jordyn Gather delivered a piece of play that only Jordyn can.
 
We are delighted with the spirit and to be in the final. Still no losses. Another clean sheet. But we have to regroup quickly for a tough final this Saturday against our Co Champion." - Head Coach Jack Gidney
