These Warriors are Locked In
The Westcliff women's basketball team has established itself as a team to watch this season.
On Friday night they took on the UC Merced Bobcats and successfully extended their winning streak with a final score of 57-48.
That's six games in a row for the Warriors who have an overall record of (7-2), and hold a (4-0) record in the California Pacific Conference.
They stand as one of the last two teams left undefeated in the Cal Pac, with Saint Katherine as the other.
Friday's game was a textbook start for the Warriors who scored the first nine points of the contest.
This led to an early timeout from UC Merced.
But the Warriors stayed poised and weren't willing to let go of the big lead they created to start the game.
The first quarter finished with Westcliff in the lead 18-4.
In the second and third quarters, both teams were pretty evenly matched but the Warriors were able to extend their lead by a couple of points.
They went into the fourth quarter with a 19-point lead, 49-30.
UC Merced put up a fight in the fourth quarter but the lead that the Warriors had built throughout the game was too much to surpass.
Eva Taylor was huge, scoring a game-high 21 points, grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out three assists. Taylor was lighting it up from beyond the arc as she made five three-pointers.
Trinity Vasquez scored 11 points and was huge on the boards grabbing 14 rebounds.
Off the bench for the Warriors, Sameera Smith scored nine points and Duna Regalado had eight.
Up next for the Warriors they will play at UC Irvine on December 14th, with tip-off at 5:00 PM.
