Westcliff Surf ended the Athletic season for Westcliff University on a high note. Westcliff Surf along with 11 other surf clubs were at the NSSA Nationals at Salt Creek on Friday morning. 

Westcliff being the only varsity surf team out on the waves showed everyone in attendance that surf can be treated as a legitimate collegiate sport in an athletic department and university. 

Westcliff opened up with Men's Shortboard 1st round with 3 Warriors moving to the 2nd round Jake Shiroke (7.63), Jack Hopkins (12.63) and Cole Futak (8.47). Hopkins earned the most out of the Warriors finishing 1st in his heat with 12.63 points. Jake Shiroke earned a 2nd place in his heat with the last run of the heat making it through to the 2nd round. Cole Futak secured his 2nd place finish in his heat with his 2nd to last run. Robbie Crist Westcliff's first surf athlete for the university was unable to advance. Crist went up in every run giving everything he had. The waves at Salt Creek were uncooperative during Crist's heat. Robbie Crist finished the season of the NSSA curcuit with a #54 place and ranking at nationals.

Next up, Women's Shortboard showcased Westcliff's best in Ninon Mattei and Sophie Cook. Both Mattei and Cook had stellar 1st round runs to advance to the semifinal round. Mattei in the 1st round had a total score run of (10.10). Cook secured the final spot to advance to the semifinals with a score of (5.23).

After the women's events had the Men's Longboard with Ian Livesay advance to the Final Round with a total score of (9.83).

Westcliff had two surfers in the Men's Shortboard advance to the Semifinal round Jack Hopkins and Cole Futak. 

Westcliff had two Warriors finish in the semifinals and two Warriors compete in the Finals Rounds.

Ian Livesay competed hard in the final round finishing 6th in the nation with a total score of (6.74).

Ninon Mattei competed in the Women's Shortboard final round. Mattei fighting through injury was able to secure a 4th place finish in the nation with a total score of (9.03).
