The Westcliff softball team made it a clean sweep of La Sierra, both for the day, and the weekend, wrapping up the 4-0 blanking with a pair of 3-2 wins Sunday at Fullerton College.
Westcliff ace Madison Mendez was the star of the show, pitching two more complete games Sunday after racking up a pair of CGs Friday.
Her battery mate all weekend was Iyari Ramirez, who was just as impressive as her starting pitcher.
Mendez threw 370 pitches over the course of the series and wrapped it all up by striking out the side to close out the cash register on the Golden Eagles as they pack up and fly off to the GSAC.
Mendez racked up four strikeouts and scattered seven in Game 1, giving up an early 1-0 lead in the first.
But the Warriors stormed back in the second, doing all the damage they would need.
Airilin Ramirez evened the game with a bases-loaded walk, then Alyssa Patlan followed it up with a bases-loaded RBI HBP.
Then it was Sara Ellerton's turned to bring one home with another free pass.
In Game 2, Mendez struck out four more, but this time scattered six.
Patlan sparked the Dubs in the third when she plated Ramirez and reached on an error.
Bailey Wallace then delivered the clutch knock – a double to right-center that scored by Anika Romo and Patlan.
Westcliff will now wrap up the regular season with a pair of nonleague doubleheaders.
First up is a meeting with No. 17 Hope International starting Thursday at 4 pm.
Saturday will see the second double-dip commence when Grace comes calling at noon.
Both showdowns will be held at the Great Park.
