WU Splits DH Against OUAZ

The Westcliff softball team split their series against OUAZ winning the first game 5-2, and falling in the second 6-0.

In Game 1, the Warriors' starting pitcher Emily Rosas was throwing some heat from the top of the mound.
 
Rosas went all seven innings and recorded 11 strikeouts with eight hits, but only two earned runs.
 
Rosas has been one of the bright spots for Westcliff so far this season and her energy and confidence when she steps up to pitch are inspiring.
 
The Warriors were down for the majority of the game as OUAZ scored their only two runs in the top of the second.
 
In the bottom of the sixth, WU made their run when Alyssa Vigil was hit by a pitch which allowed Alexyia Reyes to score the first run.
 
A triple to right center by Brittney Slocum opened up the game for the Warriors as three more runs scored.
 
Rosas took care of business in the seventh and shut out the visiting team, earning her sixth win of the season.
 
Third basemen Reyes had a good performance going 2-for-3 while scoring one run.
 
Designated player Siana San Vicente also hit 2-for-3 with one run scored.
 
In Game 2, OUAZ was able to take control after a home run in the fourth gave them a 3-0 lead.
 
Rosas pitched all seven innings of the second game and recorded another nine strikeouts, but this time she allowed six runs on nine hits.
 
A few bright spots for the Warriors in the second game were Lauren Coppla finding her rhythm by going 3-for-3.
 
Now the Warriors will focus on their conference schedule as they take on La Sierra on Friday, March 1st.
 
This will be a four-game series with the second doubleheader taking place on Sunday, March 3rd.
