Westcliff's softball team finished day three of their road trip with a couple of wins over Corban (OR). Game one was 6-2 and game two was 11-0.
"This being our first road trip together we learned a lot as a team," shared head coach Brandon Wallace. "We are making strives and moving in the right direction."
Day three was a different feeling than the previous two where the Warriors struggled and weren't able to produce many positive results.
"On our last day of the tournament, I told the team we needed to be more relentless all around," Wallace said. "I also told our offense that we would execute our short game and pass the baton (bats) around.
"With Emily Rosas having a big day in the circle our offense had no choice but to execute at the plate."
Star pitcher Emily Rosas was on fire in the first game that ended up going an extra inning. Rosas pitched eight innings and recorded 10 strikeouts, with only two hits, and zero runs.
The Warriors took the lead at the top of the third as Lauren Coppla singled to center field which brought in Abigail Rainwater to score.
Coppla would score after a successful play from Airilin Ramirez who got credited for the RBI.
But Corban got back into the game with a run in the fifth and sixth innings to tie it up 2-2.
After seven innings, both teams were still even and it wasn't until the ninth inning that Westclf was able to take back the lead and win the game.
The Warriors scored four runs in the ninth which was led by Coppla. Coppla hit a double down the left line to score two RBIs.
A few plays later, she scored on a wild pitch to put the Warriors up 6-2.
Coppla went (2-for-4) with two RBIs and two runs.
Rainwater also went (2-for-4) and scored two runs.
In the second game, the Warriors completely took over the game in the third inning when they scored 10 runs to go up 11-0.
The mercy rule took into effect after five innings as Westcliff closed out day three on top.
Again, Coppla performed great as she went (2-for-4) with three runs and an RBI.
A. Ramirez and Alexyia Reyes were (2-for-3) and each had 3 RBIs.
Rosas pitched all five innings of the second game and recorded three strikeouts, five hits, but zero runs.
The Warrior will be back home on Thursday, February 15th, for a pair of games against Vanguard University.
They will be played at the Orange County Great Park softball stadium with a start time of 11:00 a.m.
