Westcliff's softball team traveled north for a pair of games against Menlo College and Jessup this weekend.
On Friday the Warriors played the first game against Menlo and followed that with a night game against Jessup.
On the first day, Westcliff fell to Menlo 7-2 and in the second fell to William Jessup 4-2.
In the first game against Menlo, the Warriors fell behind early in the top of the first after a single to center field brought in the runner to score.
It wasn't until the fifth inning that Westcliff was able to score a run after Lauren Coppla grounded out to shortstop which allowed Airilin Ramirez to score from third base.
The Warriors scored again in the bottom of the seventh after a throwing error allowed A. Ramirez to reach home plate for their second run.
A. Ramirez who scored the only two runs for Westcliff went (2-for-4).
Coppla also went (2-for-4) with one RBI.
Starting pitcher Alex Corrales threw four innings before Etta Van Burgsteden stepped in to pitch the remaining three.
In the second game, the Warriors also fell behind early in the bottom of the first but made quick work to prevent any further damage.
Westcliff capitalized on their chances in the fifth. Olivia Pino doubled to right field, bringing Jessalyn Villicana home.
A couple of pitches later Pino was able to score following a wild pitch to put the Warriors up 2-1 over William Jessup.
But with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth game, Jessup took the lead 4-2 and closed out the game.
Just like in the first game, the Warriors had some struggles making contact with the ball and getting hits. They had four hits compared to seven by Jessup.
A. Ramirez, Coppla, Celeste Huffman, and Pino had one hit apiece.
Starting pitcher Emily Rosas had six strikeouts but allowed four runs in seven hits.
WU will get another chance against the same opponents on Saturday as they will play both teams one more time.
These games are non-conference as the Warriors' overall record moved to 1-3.
Saturday's games will be at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
