Warriors Sweep the Firebirds

Warriors, get your brooms out.

Westcliff's softball team had another chance to get their first sweep of the season in the second doubleheader against the University of Saint Katherine on Sunday.

Mission accomplished, as the Warriors won both games 8-1 and 8-1.
 
In the first game, Warriors' star pitcher Emily Rosas shined and put up some insanely good numbers.
 
Rosas pitched all seven innings and only allowed five hits with one run.
 
Rosas was lights out as she gathered 11 strikeouts to seal the deal against USK.
 
Westcliff had all of their runs by the end of the third inning as they went up 8-1 and remained that way for the rest of the game.
 
Airilin Ramirez led the way in the first game going 3-5 and scoring two of the eight runs herself.
 
Haley Garcia followed, going 2-4 and also scoring two runs.
 
Everyone was taking a crack at the ball as the Warriors had nine of their 10 players record hits.
 
In the second game, the Warriors were dominant once again and were up 5-1 by the end of the second inning. 
 
Sierra Dana was the starting pitcher in the second game and pitched all seven innings.
 
Danna allowed six hits but only one run was scored from that as she struck out five batters too.
 
The Warriors have an overall record of (18-10) and a conference record of (13-6).
 
This sweep is huge for them as they have been close to sweeping other times but came up short, always winning three of four.
 
Up next, Westcliff will play a couple of make-up games against Jessup University.
 
They will take place at home for the Warriors on Wednesday, April 5th, starting at 11:00 AM.
