Westcliff Warriors went across the 405 to take on Vanguard Lions in a double header matchup.

Game 1 saw a lot of standout performances as the Warriors went on to take the match in a close battle 2-1.

The following game was the Warriors to win going into the bottom of the 9th leading 3-1.

Lions found their momentum to tie the game heading into extra innings. Here is where Westcliff was tested on how they would respond.

Warriors a lions error gave the lead back to Westcliff. Becky Ramos followed up that momentum with a double to give the Warriors the 6-3 lead.

Pitcher Sierra Danna came in the clutch to shut down the lions for the sweep of the series.

Standout Performances from Pitchers Emily Rosas and Sierra Danna. Becky Ramos, Evette Mendoza and Natalie Ziegler were phenomenal hitting against a tough pitching core from the Lions.

Coaches Notes

"A doubleheader against Vanguard this past Friday had a lot of opportunities and play time by the team.

Both games were very close and a battle from both sides. We were fortunate to come out on top and execute opportunities when they were given.

Our second game was a little bit of a nailbiter when we had to go onto the top of the eighth, but I was confident with our team, was swinging their bats that day that they would make it happen.

We had some really great opportunities, but one other that really stood out to us was Sierra Danna or Freshmen pitcher. Who pitched the entire first game did great job, keeping vanguard on their toes only allowing one solid hit against her in game 1.

Emily was having a little bit of a hard time finding the zone, Sarah came up to the coach and stuff and said that she was mentally and physically ready to go in and check Vanguard down again and she did just that. And see a Freshmen with such confidence in herself and in her defense was a great blessing for us coaches.

Westcliff will be playing sunday against University of British Columbia
