Friday night's 3-1 win at Simpson had to feel especially good for Westcliff men's volleyball setter Nikos Kalagasidis, who transferred from Redding to Irvine last offseason.
Kalagasidis went absolutely nuts, setting up 43 teammates for assists, collecting six digs on defense even providing four kills on the offensive end in leading the Dubs past his old mates, 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20.
But he wasn't alone.
Connor McCann threw himself and his teammates a block party, rejecting – count them – 10 Simpson attempts to finish with 11 points total.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Pizza (13 kills) and Tom Dempsey (10) handled the bulk of the scoring.
Rodolfo Biegelmeyer chimed in with seven finishes, Andrin Broder had nine and McCann finished with six.
Pawel Tuz had the night off, a smart move, allowing Kalagasidis to shine, and saving Tuz's legs for today's road trip finale at Pacific Union.
First serve against PUC is slated for 8 p.m.
