Senior Night Success, Warriors Cruise Past Park
After a heartbreaking loss that went to five sets, the Westcliff men's volleyball team was eager to have their final home game of the season against the Park-Gilbert Buccaneers.
The Warriors celebrated their seven graduating seniors before cruising to a three-set win.: 25-17, 25-15, 25-19.
It was a routine win for the Warriors who at times seemed like they let go of the gas pedal but would then get back on track and overpower the Buccaneers.
Lukas Pusvaskis led the way with 12 kills, five service aces, and six digs.
Pawel Tuz had 23 assists, three kills, and four digs.
Thomas Taufetee contributed with eight kills, six digs, and a service ace.
With the win, Westcliff improved to (12-5, Cal Pac 6-2) and is in a tie for second place with Benedictine in the conference standings.
The Warriors have four conference games remaining in their season and it looks like we'll have to wait until the last one is played before knowing which seeding they'll finish.
As it stands, the Warriors could be as high as earning the top seed and winning the regular season title, or they could drop to the third seed.
This week they'll face off against UC Merced who are the current No. 1 seed.
WU took the first meeting between these teams in a five-set thriller that set them up for success afterward.
If the Warriors can take this game at Merced, it would set them up nicely to end the season in the best possible way.
But before that, the Warriors will play a nonconference match against Vanguard on Tuesday, March 19th at 7:00 p.m.
