Warriors Win the Cal Pac Regular Season Title
By Francisco Claudio

There was little doubt of the heights that the Westcliff men's soccer team could reach after the first couple of games of the season were played.

The difficult part was going to be sustaining that level throughout the rest of the schedule and into the postseason.

Well, on Sunday, the Warriors took down Benedictine Mesa and secured the 2023 Cal Pac Regular Season Title as the No. 1 seed in the conference.

The score was another jaw-dropping 10-0, with the 11th clean sheet for the Warriors of the 2023 season.

Wissem Obeid led the Warriors with four goals, which boosted him to the No. 1 spot in goals scored in the Cal Pac with 18.

John Adekunle followed with two goals and he is now second in goals scored with 13.

Jordan Di Lonardo also added two goals and collected three assists throughout the game.

Di Lonardo is the Cal Pac assist leader with 18.

Adekunle is in second place with 13 assists.

Martin Slatsve and Diego Montes joined the party with a goal apiece to round out the 10 goals for the Warriors.

Head Coach Randy Dodge was happy with the result but even more happy that the team accomplished one of the goals they had set.

"Guys are super pumped about fulfilling one of our goals for the season and making history," Dodge said. "Having clinched before the conference tournament is good to start getting guys healthy.

"We have been without two main starters for the last month, so hopefully, we will get them back ready to go."

Westcliff has one more game left on their schedule, which will be this Saturday, October 28th, at 7PM.

The Cal Pac Conference Championship tournament will be held at La Sierra and the Warriors can expect to play on November 9th.
