When it rains, it pours.

It was a deluge of goal-scoring for the Westcliff men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon at the Great Park, where the Warriors took it to Providence Christian in an 8-0 shellacking.

Quentin Hornung found Jakob Schnitzler on a corner set piece in the ninth minute to open the scoring.

It wasn't until the 33rd minute that the game got out of control, when John Adekunle scored on a Felix Kogler assist.

The Warriors would score three more goals before half to make it 5-0 at the break.

Kogler ended up with back-to-back goals in the 40th and 41st minute and Jonas Jansen found net a minute before the break.

In the second half, Lukas Lougon, Marco Peccolo and Cesar Ortega all found net.

"We've had some tough games," Westcliff head coach Tom Lancaster said. "So it was nice to get some guys some minutes. Cesar scored a goal today, and Felix scored a couple as well, so it was nice to get them off the mark."

Incredibly, every single goal the Warriors score came off an assist.

Hornung finished with a pair of helps, as did Philipp Harder and Kay Maletzki.

Kogler, Karam Idris, Max Juha Simonis, AJ Yazid and Fridolin Gefrorer all finished with one assist.

Westcliff was brilliant on the defensive end as well, allowing just four Providence shots-on-goal.

The Warriors finished with 31.

Up next, Westcliff (2-2-1) opens California Pacific Conference play Friday, Sept. 24, when it hosts Benedictine Mesa at the Great Park.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
