Jerred Cook enters his 2nd season at Westcliff; previously holding the Associate Head Coach Position last year with 20-21 being his first season as Head Coach. 

Cook played basketball at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska before graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Health and Human Performance. Playing two seasons for the Bruins, he helped lead his team to the national tournament both years reaching the final four in his senior season. He was named a Daktronics Scholar Athlete both years for the Bruins and was known as a lethal threat from the perimeter. He also played at Cypress Junior College for 2 years while earning his Associates of Arts degree in Social and Behavioral Science. At Cypress Junior College, Jerred was named honorable mention sophomore year and was in the top ten in the state of California shooting 48% from 3pt range freshman year.

Jerred went to high school at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California where he played for the late Coach Dwan Hurt varsity for 2 years while maintaining a 3.8+ GPA. In his senior season, the Cavaliers captured the CIF SS Championship in 2012 with a record of 31-3. Jerred played AAU basketball with Cal Supreme and SoCal Soldiers in southern California.

Since graduating college, Jerred has worked as a camp counselor and commissioner at UCLA’s day and overnight basketball camps while also facilitating their advanced skill sessions.

Jerred became a certified CIF basketball referee in 2017-2018 and spent a significant amount of time officiating all around so-cal various basketball leagues and tournaments. 

As an Assistant Player Development Coach to Rico Hines, he has worked with many college and NBA players to help enhance their development and overall skill set. Some of the players include 2018-2019 Most Improved Player Pascal Siakam, 2019-2020  Most Improved Player Montrezl Harrell, Thomas Bryant, Kevon Looney and more.  

Prior to joining the Westcliff staff, Jerred spent time abroad in Japan instructing the game of basketball and facilitating 12 clinics in 9 days to middle school, high school, and college athletes. He also went back to his alma mater, Serra High School, coaching the freshman team and conducting skill development training for some of the varsity players.
