The Westcliff men's basketball team cruised past Life Pacific in San Dimas Saturday, 93-74.
Six Warriors finished in double-figures, led by Rayven Turner (six rebounds) who was near perfect, finishing with a team-high 18 on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from range.
Micaiah Hankins (five rebounds, four assists, steal) was once again outstanding, committing just two turnovers at the point and finishing with 15.
Marques Sales bounced back from a foul-plagued night Thursday to finished with 10 and six, meanwhile Aaron Strings (four rebounds) turned in 12, and Evan Hoosier (five rebounds) ended his night with 11.
Dera Vixon once again provided a spark off the bench, turning 10 points to complement four boards, four dimes and a cookie.
"We have to tighten up some things if we plan to be the team we claim we are," Westcliff head coach Jerred Cook said. "Excited to analyze film, learn, and continue to grow as a team."
The turnover game was even at 11 apiece and the Warriors committed just one more foul (15). Where the game separated was in the shooting.
While the Dubs enjoyed a 62.7% night from the field, cashing in seven of 17 three-pointers (41.2%), Life Pacific shot just 39.7% from the field, and while they also hit seven treys, it took them seven more shots to rack them up.
The numbers speak to the Warriors' effort on the defensive end.
Ironically, Westcliff's next contest is Nov. 26th at Life Pacific.
The interesting schedule anomaly, which occurred because a Nov. 19th contest against Justice College was postponed, will offer an interesting perspective on the Warriors' progress over the course of the next 10 days.
It's hard to beat a 19-point win, but those are the expectations, thanks to Saturday's blowout.
