Warriors Get Back to Winning, Down ERAU
The Westcliff men's basketball team got back on track as they took down Embry-Riddle 71-64 and have officially booked their spot in the postseason tournament.
The Warriors (13-9, Cal Pac 12-5) have been on an amazing run in the second half of the season by winning 10 of their last 12 games.
This helped them shoot up in the standings as they currently sit in the third spot.
More importantly, Westcliff was able to bounce back and get a win after their previous loss against Benedictine Mesa which stopped the eight-game winning streak.
The Warriors got off to a great start against Embry-Riddle as they went on an 8-0 run.
This set them up well in the first half as they were able to keep a marginal lead for the most part.
After the first half was complete, Westcliff was up 35-30.
Embry-Riddle responded well in the second half and was able to put pressure on the Warriors.
With under six minutes left to play, the score had been flipped and Westcliff was now down 51-46.
But the Warriors did not fold and had some big buckets from Korey Hess and John Duff.
Michaiah Hankins sealed the win with clutch free throws, going 4-for-4 in the last 10 seconds.
Duff had a monster game recording 25 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a block. He went 3-for-4 from three.
Hess had some clutch shots and finished with 12 points, going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Justin Boateng and Hankins both finished with 11 points.
The Warriors have three games left in their season as they try to climb even higher in the conference standings.
Next, they will play La Sierra on Saturday, February 17th, with a start time of 6:30 p.m.
