Warriors Remain Hungry and Grounded During Win Streak
Undoubtedly, the Westcliff men's basketball team is currently the hottest team in the Cal Pac Conference.
They have won seven games in a row and have been climbing up the standings and playing their brand of basketball which head coach Jerred Cook has been trying to instill all season.
Most recently, they played the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers and took care of business 87-66.
The first few minutes were within a couple of points but the Warriors began to pull away after a dunk from John Duff and a three from Rayven Turner.
From that moment on it was all Warrior basketball and a joy to watch for all spectators in attendance.
A couple of times during the game, the team executed some impressive plays, including an alley-oop to Duff, who emphatically slammed the ball through the hoop.
Westcliff shot the ball well at 46% from the field and 35% from long range.
They rebounded well and won that category with ease 44-29, with a lot of the coming from the big men, Marius Ntwari and Duff.
Micaiah Hankins played well in the short time he was on the court as he scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Hankins went 3-for-5 from the three-point line and was very efficient overall.
His time was limited due to foul trouble but when he was on the court it was money.
Turner followed that with 13 points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Back-to-back conference player of the week Jamal Briscoe had a good game with 11 points and four steals.
Off the bench, Ntwari almost had himself a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
But even though the Warriors are on fire right now, they are only one game ahead of the fourth-place team.
They will need to continue playing how they have and finish the season strong to stay in the top two or three positions.
Up next, the Warriors will hit the road and go through all the Arizona teams starting with Park-Gilbert on Thursday, February 8th.
