Warriors Get a Much Needed Win
By Francisco Claudio
Westcliff men's basketball team is fighting for a spot to make it into the postseason with only a few games remaining in their schedule.
On Thursday night the Warriors took on the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers in a close match that saw Westcliff get back on a winning streak.
The final score was 65-60.
It was a back-and-forth from the beginning with neither team being able to pull ahead for more than a few possessions.
The game had 11 ties and 10 lead changes as neither team could come up with enough stops to take control of the game for an extended period of time.
Neither team shot it particularly well from beyond the arc, and the Warriors shot worse from the field, 36.9% to 56.5%.
But it was the overall tenacity and effort from Westcliff that helped them take this win.
Four out of the five starters scored in double digits. The last starter was one point shy, with nine.
Josh Jones had 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Josh Harrison had 15 points, four rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Cap Uzan contributed 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Callan Low had nine points, three rebounds, and three steals.
Abdul Abdullah had his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
The Warriors have an overall record of (10-8) and a conference record of (9-6).
If the Warriors make a strong final push in their remaining schedule, they have a chance to move up in the standings because it's a tight race from the 2nd to 4th seedings.
Up next, they will host Pacific Union on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The tip-off will be at 6:30 PM.
