Bio
Coach Drake Hoffman comes to Westcliff University with a great understanding for the game. After being
a multi sport athlete at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, he went on to play at Cypress College for
two seasons before finding a new opportunity in a different aspect of the game, coaching. After his playing
career ended from a devastating injury, he acquired his baseball scouting license while asked to coach
the Esperanza High School freshman baseball team (2016) and then got offered the head JV coaching
job and assistant varsity coach for Whittier Christian High School (2018-2020). He was also a head
baseball coach for a summer collegiate league in 2021. Coach Hoffman is a full-time real estate agent as
well as an assistant teacher for special needs kids in PYLSD, so he connects well with people. After his
professional career ended, Coach Hoffman took some time off for surgery to repair his left shoulder. He
then decided to join the coaching staff at Westcliff University.
Coach Hoffman has a twin brother (Dylan) and three older sisters (Sarah, Stacy, Sabrina) along with his
father and mother, Glenn and Cheryl. His father Glenn Hoffman, played professionally and coached in
Major League Baseball for over two decades for the Boston Red Sox (played 1980 -1987), Los Angeles
Dodgers (played 1987), California Angels (played 1989), Los Angeles Dodgers (managed 1998, coached
1999 - 2005), and the San Diego Padres (coached 2006-2020). His uncle, Trevor Hoffman is one of the
greatest relief pitchers of all time and was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2018.
Coach Hoffman is excited to help build such a great program and is the outfield coach for Westcliff. He
looks forward to bringing professionalism and a strong background to the Westcliff baseball program.
