Warriors Conclude Three-Game Series at Benedictine

Westcliff's baseball team scored 13 runs in three games at Benedictine Mesa this weekend, but the Warriors (5-11, Cal Pac 0-3) were defeated in all three contests.
The Warriors fell in Game 1 9-8 which was the closest outcome of the series.
The team was making contact with the bat, but so were the Redhawks as they combined for 29 hits through nine innings.
Chance Shipley started at the mound for the Warriors and pitched five innings. Shipley recorded five strikeouts but allowed nine runs in nine hits.
Westcliff took the lead in the top of the sixth inning 8-7, but Benedictine responded in the bottom of the sixth with two runs.
The Warriors weren't able to get runs in the last inning as the first game came to an end.
Ian Avalos was (3-for-5), Micah Wallette went (2-for-4), and Daniel Esqueda was (2-for-2).
In Game 2, Westcliff's starting pitcher Camden Cooper went (5.2 innings) and recorded six strikeouts. Unfortunately, Cooper allowed eight runs in 13 hits as the Warriors found themselves down 8-3 in the bottom of the fourth.
Zane Parmenter, Caleb Cantanchoa, and Ryan Naranjo went (2-for-4).
The Warriors struggled to hold off the Redhawks as they tallied 15 hits to Westcliff's nine.
Game 2 was another loss for the Warriors 10-4.
The hitting slowed down in Game 3 but the Warriors couldn't overcome the Redhawks as the third game in the series was another loss, 3-1.
So far this season, Westcliff's batting average is .278.
They're a lot better at home batting at .332 which will be something to look forward to with the next couple of games being held in Irvine.
The next series will be against Park-Gilbert which will start with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 1st. The first pitch will take place at 11 a.m. and the second game will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
The series will finish with a single game on Saturday, March 2nd, with a start time of 2 p.m.
Both days will be played at the Orange County Great Park.
