Sports require the individual to regroup and try to perform better than the previous performance.
Westcliff's baseball team had to regroup and turn things around quickly from their previous game that saw them go down big.
So on Friday, the Warriors came out with a different energy as they played San Diego Christian College and won the doubleheader 11-4, 9-1.
In the first game of the doubleheader, both the Warriors and Hawks scored a run in the first inning.
But then in the bottom of the fifth inning, Westcliff started to find their groove and made magic happen.
The Warriors went on to score eight runs in the inning as they kept finding the right spot to hit the ball in the open areas on the field.
This proved to be the inning that separated the teams as the Warriors went on to take the game.
Second baseman Eddie Rivero went 3-5 and scored two runs with two RBIs.
Left fielder Daniel Esqueda went 2-5 with one run scored and bringing in three RBIs.
Center fielder Keith Hale went 3-4 with one run scored and an RBI.
The starting pitcher for game 1 Eddie Rios pitched through seven innings and earned 10 strikeouts with only five hits and two runs allowed.
In the second game, it didn't take the Warriors long to land the first blow as they scored a run in the first inning.
Then this time it was during the bottom of the third inning that Westcliff was able to land a huge blow to the Hawks.
The Warriors scored six runs to extend their lead to 8-0.
Rivero went 3-3 which led to three RBIs.
Ulysses Duran had a solid stretch going 2-2 and scored a run.
Zane Parmenter went 2-3 with one RBI and scored two runs.
Westcliff will try to take all the positives from this doubleheader because they will come back on Saturday to play the Hawks again at the Great Park in Irvine.
The first game will start at 11:00 AM and the second at 2:30 PM.
