PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
Brandon Petersen is an accomplished sports media and branding professional with expertise in content production, social media strategy, journalism, and digital engagement. Since 2019, he has played a pivotal role in building Westcliff Athletics’ digital presence from the ground up, growing its social media reach to over 2.5 million impressions annually by 2024.
Currently serving as Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Branding, Petersen has been recognized with multiple NAIA content creation awards and has been promoted four times in five years. He was selected for Westcliff’s RISE leadership program, further strengthening his expertise in strategic communication and organizational leadership.
Before joining Westcliff, Petersen built a diverse background in sports media, videography, and journalism:
- Journalist & Reporter – Manteca Bulletin (Northern California)
- Football Videographer – Santa Margarita Catholic High School (covered 2011 state championship season)
- AAU Basketball Videographer – Covered elite-level talent in youth basketball

Petersen's academic journey reflects his commitment to excellence in sports media, digital strategy, and leadership. After leaving the University of Washington as a senior, he returned to complete his education, earning three master’s degrees with top honors (including a 4.0 GPA in Digital Audience Strategy). Now, he is completing a sports management degree at Georgetown University, further solidifying his expertise in sports business and leadership.
Petersen is passionate about leveraging media, branding, and storytelling to elevate the visibility of athletes and organizations, and he is eager to continue shaping the future of sports media, content strategy, and brand development.
