High Winds Favor the Warriors

Westcliff hosted a non conference matchup against the San Diego Christian Hawks at the OC Great Park. The morning was filled with constant wind and it never stopped.

The wind played the third opponent role in this match against the Warriors and Hawks.

Westcliff drew first quickly going up 2-0 with stellar performances by Marine Kinna and Fiona Moesching. Maddie Shepston and Sabrina Galassi were in full control of thier match quickly winning 21-18, 21-8.

San Diego Christian made the rest of the match a tough battle. Westcliff's 5th pair clutched the win for the Warriors due to some tough and cheeky play style from Chloe Johnson and Faith Webb.

Westcliff's #1 pair were having a tough time adjusting to the windy conditions of the match dropping 0-2. 

Warriors #3 pair Mia Scheepens and Leanna Zamora fought down a set to force the 3rd set showdown with a close score of 15-12.

Westcliff are now 3-0 on the season.

Coaches' Notes

"Today was probably the most wind we have seen at Great Park in Irvine and it was an awesome test of our ball control!
 
The girls did an amazing job battling through the adversity, serving tough and siding out well.
 
Marine played a really flawless game today. She made it look easy and more importantly she helped her partner find success each step of the way. 
 
With a double header tomorrow we are focused on "not hitting the panic or the snooze button".
 
Mindset and emotions play a critical role in our sport and we are looking to master it."
 
Westcliff will go up to face off against Golden West College and Ventura College tomorrow
