By Francisco Claudio

The Westcliff women's volleyball team finished off their three-game homestand against the Benedictine Redhawks on Saturday night.

The Warriors put up a good fight against one of the better teams in the Cal Pac Conference. but ultimately fell in three sets: 25-21, 25-22, 25-14.

Westcliff went toe-to-toe with the Redhawks in the first set and had control for about 75% of the time.

Samantha Lister set up Faith Webb for the kill as the Warriors took a 20-18 lead.

But this was the point where the match switched over to the Redhawks' momentum as they went on a 7-1 run to take the first set.

The second set was much like the first as the Warriors found themselves in the exact scenario up, 20-18.

Again, Benedictine went on a huge run 7-2, to take the set.

The Warriors kept fighting in the third but the mountain was too huge to climb as the Redhawks went on a 9-1 run to seal the match.

"I think it was a good test," head coach Andy Cole said after the game. "This exposed some things that we are now more aware of and can focus on for the rest of the season."

Webb has returned to the lineup for the Warriors and made a strong impact as she recorded 10 digs and nine kills this match.

Lister had a game-high 20 assists and eight digs.

After this homestand, the Warriors have an overall record of 2-5 and a conference record of 2-4.

They will be looking to make up some ground and get back in the playoff hunt against Providence Christian and UAV, two teams who are also struggling this season.

But first Westcliff will play a non-conference match against The Master's on Tuesday, with a start time of 6:00PM
