NAIA Eligibility

All players must be deemed eligible before they can compete against a team from another school (including JV games, scrimmages, and exhibitions).

Once they have played one game against another school (including JV games) and were on the field/court for a minimum of one play, they will be charged a year of eligibility for that season (scrimmages, exhibition games, and medical hardships are the only exceptions to this).

** All new transfers must complete the NAIA Transfer Form. Transfers from a 4-year institution must be in residence at Westcliff for 16 calendar weeks before they can be eligible unless the athlete's former institution provides a written release.

**If the athlete has never competed for an NAIA school, they must be deemed eligible through the NAIA Eligibility Center before they can compete. Registering in the center and providing the necessary information is the responsibility of the student. Westcliff CAN NOT provide this information or paperwork on behalf of the student, nor can Westcliff contact former schools or high schools to request this information.

Day Off Policy

The California Pacific Conference, along with the NAIA believe in the value of providing one day-off per week, during each team’s defined play and practice season. We feel this policy would be in the best interest of each student-athlete, along with their overall student-athlete experience, their physical and emotional health, academic success, and personal/interpersonal well-being. A week is defined by the NAIA as starting on Monday and ending on Sunday. A day-off must occur during this 7-day week structure. Communication with the coach, teammates, athletic department and sports medicine department is allowed along with necessary athletic travel. However, student-athletes are not allowed to practice, compete, or participate in representing the institution in their respective sport. The aforementioned restrictions are communicated beforehand and begin when student-athletes arrive on campus, and govern their weekly schedule whether they are in-season or in their off-season.
