On Saturday evening the Warriors hosted Saint Katherine and got the win, 69-59.
With the win, they are now on a two-game winning streak which is the third time this season that Westcliff has a winning streak of two or more games.
The Warriors started the first quarter on a good note, and after a couple of minutes of back and forth, they were able to get some separation and go up by six points.
They kept that lead for the remainder of the first quarter and led 17-11 after 10 minutes of play.
For most of the second quarter, they were able to keep Saint Katherine from making any progress, but then in the last few minutes, the Firebirds went on their run.
The Warriors saw their lead disappear at the end of the first half and were down 28-27.
The break helped Westcliff because they came out with more energy and were on fire to start the third quarter.
They started the third quarter on an 11-0 run, which completely flipped the energy and momentum of the game.
Saint Katherine tried to fight back but the Warriors were not going to let go of the lead they created to start the third.
Going into the fourth quarter, Westcliff had a double-digit lead, 57-44.
They took care of business in the fourth quarter and were able to maintain the double-digit lead and win the game.
Head coach Kyle Rouse shared his thoughts on the Warriors' performance: "Defensive stops. We started really doing a great job scrambling and forcing them late in the shot clock to make tough shots."
Trinity Vasquez had a game-high 21 points shooting 69% from the field and making both of her three-point attempts. She had four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Eva Taylor had 20 points while shooting 70% from the field. She also hit 6 three-pointers during pivotal times in the game. Taylor also had three assists and three steals to accompany her strong scoring performance.
With the win, the Warriors have an overall record of (11-5) and a conference record of (8-2)
Up next, Westcliff will take on the number one team in the conference Antelope Valley.
Coach Rouse knows that there are still many things that the team needs to work on before their next game.
"Late game high-pressure situations taking care of the ball," said Rouse. "We're too good offensively to throw balls away and not get shot attempts in the game. When we actually get shots, we're tough to beat."
The Warriors will play on Thursday, tip-off will be at 7:30 PM.
